Violin Teaching Studio
I offer private violin instruction for dedicated students of all ages seeking to develop exceptional technical skills, artistic expression, and a deep understanding of music.
My teaching is informed by a lifetime of study, performance, and mentorship at the highest levels. I earned both Bachelor of Music and Artist Diploma degrees in Violin Performance from the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, where I studied with distinguished violin pedagogue Robert Lipsett. I also participated in the renowned Perlman Music Program, studying violin for two summers with Itzhak Perlman. Prior to my studies in the United States, I trained in Bucharest with distinguished Romanian pedagogues Ștefan Gheorghiu and Carmen Runceanu.
In addition to my work as a violinist, I have built an extensive career as an educator and conductor. I currently serve as the Wattis Foundation Music Director of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra. Prior to my appointment in San Francisco, I served as Music Director of the Naples Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and Director of the Music Makers Chamber Music Summer Camp.
My teaching experience spans some of the world's leading music institutions. I have served as violin, conducting, and chamber music faculty for Summer Performing Arts with Juilliard in Shanghai, chamber music faculty for the Perlman Music Program, and conducting faculty for the Juilliard Pre-College Division. Since 2020, I have maintained a private violin studio, working with students ranging from beginners to advanced pre-professional musicians.
As both a violinist and conductor, I bring a unique perspective to violin instruction. While technical development serves as the foundation of all musical growth, I also help students develop the listening skills, musical awareness, and artistic confidence necessary to become complete musicians. Lessons are tailored to each student's individual goals and emphasize healthy technique, beautiful tone production, musical expression, disciplined practice habits, and performance preparation.
My goal is to help each student develop not only the skills necessary for musical success, but also a lifelong appreciation for artistic excellence, curiosity, and meaningful music-making.
Studio Admission
Prospective students are invited to schedule a trial lesson. This meeting allows us to discuss the student's goals, assess current playing level, and determine whether my teaching approach is the right fit for the student's musical development.
Lessons are available in the Redwood City area by arrangement through the contact page. A very limited number of openings are available for online instruction for qualified students.
